Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Tasks: Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces . Inspect final products. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Test prototypes and production tools. Instruct apprentices. Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Program CNC machine tools. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Set up and operate electrical discharge machines (EDM). Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates. Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining. Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Computer and technology knowledge: AutoCAD. SolidWorks software. Tool and die fabrication experience: Gauge blocks. Jigs and fixtures. Metal cutting, forming or bending dies. Compound or progressive transfer dies. Forging die. Extrusion dies. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Overtime required. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Gloves. Ear plugs. Face shield. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Flexibility. Organized. Team player.
