Applications are invited from teachers with <p>BC Certification for the following teaching position: <p>North Island Secondary School, Port McNeill, BC <p>0.57 FTE Temporary - Shared Understanding 9-12, <p> Kwak?wala 8, and Social Studies 10 <p>Commencing: September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 <p>or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first <p>The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: completion of a Bachelor of Education; <p> certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch; <p> academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level Social Studies, Culture and Language; <p> knowledge and understanding of the cultural values, traditions and language of the Kwak?wala speaking peoples Indigenous ancestry and fluency in Kwak?wala preferred; <p> strong classroom management skills; <p> the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies; <p> the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning; <p> strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and <p> ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices. <p>The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $62,493 to $109,240, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
