Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Dangerous goods occurrence reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer). Transportation/travel experience: International. Local. Regional. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs). Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
