Job Description
Starks Plumbing and Heating Ltd. is a successful employer in Medicine Hat and requires a *FULL-TIME ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN *for its Accounting Department.
· 2+ years experience in full-cycle accounting and record keeping in either public accounting or a related field of industry.
· Proven understanding of accounting principles (debits & credits, assets & liabilities, revenues & expenses).
· Experience with Quickbooks, Simply Accounting (Sage), or similar accounting software.
· A Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an asset but not required. Bookkeeping courses will also be considered.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong organizational skills, proficiency in meeting deadlines, high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and ability to exercise independent judgment.
· Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to identify methods to make current processes more efficient and accurate.
· Experience with ERP software and Microsoft Office applications; specifically, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
· Report to the Financial Controller and CFO to perform various tasks as needed.
· Bookkeeping duties, which includes preparing monthly bank account reconciliations, accounts receivable and accounts payable, GST and PST processing, payroll administration, WCB, and other various bookkeeping tasks.
· Manage the revenue recognition process in collaboration with managers and their administrative staff to ensure all revenue is accurately captured and reported in the financial system.
· Inventory accounting including inventory management, production costing, production forecasting and analysis.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end working papers for the facility as well as ad-hoc reports in a timely and accurate manner.
· Assist with year-end processes.
· Assist in budget preparation and cash flow projections for the facility.
· Meet third party reporting requirements, including managing firm deadlines.
· Assist with the maintenance and implementation of internal controls, policies and procedures.
· Manage relationships with third party vendors.
· Prepare reports for operational managers in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
