Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Tasks: Analyze hair and scalp condition. Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Shampoo customers' hair. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Apply hair extensions. Clean and style wigs and hair pieces. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair. Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features and preferences. Perform receptionist duties. Maintain and order supplies. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Hairstylist Trade Certification. Hair styling techniques: Blow drying. Iron waving/curling. Extensions. Roller setting. Hair colouring techniques: Bleach. Dyes/tints. Frosting. Streaking/highlights. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination.
