Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Supermarket/grocery store. Tasks: Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders. Prepare pastry for special occasions, such as weddings and birthdays. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Bake mixed dough and batters. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Prepare special orders. Supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff. Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods. Train staff. Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards. Inspect kitchen and food service areas. Operate machinery. Organize and maintain inventory. Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods. Wrap and package prepared meats. Weigh meats for sale. Sell meats to customers. Remove bones from meat. Price meat products. Prepare special displays of meats, poultry and fish products. Grind meats. Cut poultry into parts. Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat. Cut carcasses, sides and quarters. Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting. Assist in display of merchandise. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Baker Trade Certification.
