Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Installation. Maintenance. Tasks: Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment. Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Analyze test results and adjust, change or repair switching system, network, associated equipment and software. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Initiate the dispatch of appropriate repair personnel. Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment. Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access. Computer and technology knowledge: Telephone system. Telecommunication system. Area of specialization: Telephone installation and repair.
