School District 10 (Arrow Lakes) has the following continuing contract teaching position starting for the 2024-2025 school year:<p> <p>Position: Secondary Languages (French preferred) and Humanities Teacher <p>School: Nakusp Secondary School <p>FTE: 1.0 Continuing <p>Effective: September 3, 2024 <p>Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685 <p>School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. We?re looking for an enthusiastic and creative educator and have a great team of principals/vice principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community for you to work alongside. School District 10's purpose is to build a collaborative community of learning, including strong academics, overall well-being, and a connection to the land, in order to provide our students with the knowledge and skills they require to navigate an ever-changing future. The successful candidate is someone who is committed to helping us achieve our purpose. <p>Required characteristics / strengths include: <p>a) A Bachelor degree with a Major or Minor in a secondary language, and humanities<p>b) Successful senior secondary language and humanities teaching experience<p>c) Demonstrated ability in planning and designing engaging learning activities using BC curriculum<p>d) Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working within a team environment<p>e) Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners<p>f) Excellent ability to differentiate for all learners and co-plan for diversity and engagement<p>g) Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulated learning<p>h) Demonstrated understanding of indigenous cultures, and experience integrating First Peoples of Principles of Learning into teaching practice<p>i) Successful experience in facilitating outdoor learning experiences with a focus on place consciouses and cross curricular learning <p>j) Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and collaboratively organizing for learning<p>k) Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage learners and foster learning<p>l) Professional learning inquiry experience that informs professional practice<p>m) Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community<p>n) Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset<p>All applicants for this position should provide evidence of all areas of expertise or experience as relates to the position.
