Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Conduct forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
  • Display spatial data using Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • Help forest managers in planning access routes and forest roads
  • Measure the density of crop species and the amount of competition present to determine the need for tending operations
  • Monitor the effectiveness of silvicultural practices
  • Supervise the construction of access routes and forest roads
  • Update computerized forest management information system
  • Use photogrammetric and mapping techniques
  • Monitor activities of logging companies and contractors
  • Enforce environmental, fire safety and accident prevention regulation
  • Develop and maintain computer databases
  • Provide technical support to forestry research
