*Job Overview*
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Controller to manage the financial operations of our business. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of both completing key accounting tasks and managing a small team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the group of companies. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and be comfortable working in the details as part of the role.

*Key Responsibilities*:
1. *Financial Accounting & Reporting*
* Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
* Oversee and process journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting.
* Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across related entities.
* Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax and regulatory requirements.
* Work with external accountants to complete year-end reviews and audits.
2. *Cash Flow & Budget Management*
* Manage cash flow, forecasting, and liquidity to meet operational and financial obligations.
* Oversee and optimize accounts receivable and payable cycles.
* Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
3. *Team Management*
* Supervise and support a small finance team, including a payroll administrator and an accounts payable assistant.
* Provide guidance and training to ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll and payables.
* Review and approve the work of team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Manage team performance and foster a collaborative, problem-solving work environment.
4. *Project & Job Cost Reporting*
* Prepare and update job cost reports on a weekly/monthly basis.
* Work closely with operations to ensure accurate project reporting and financial tracking.
* Collaborate with management to analyze project profitability and identify improvement areas.
5. *Internal Controls & Compliance*
* Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures.
* Develop risk management strategies to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
6. *Hands-On Operational Tasks*
* Be directly involved in day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts reconciliation, invoice processing, and payroll oversight.
* Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial data and transactions.
* Act as the point person for any financial queries or issues.
*Qualifications*:
* CPA designation or equivalent accounting qualification.
* Proven experience (7+ years) as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant in a similar role, ideally within an a construction company.
* Completed 7+ external year-end Review engagements with external accountants
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
* Excellent Excel and financial software skills.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a small team.
* Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and solve problems.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Experience in QuickBooks
* High degree of attention to detail
* High degree of accountability
* Highly organized
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $110,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
