The Employment Counsellor is a valued team member tasked with delivering WorkBC Employment Services to individuals in need of support and/or skills enhancement to obtain and maintain sustainable employment. This is achieved through using an individualized integrated, case management approach that includes: formal needs assessment, employment counselling, developing action plans, job search support, skills enhancement, and administration of eligible financial supports as necessary.
*Duties & Responsibilities:*
*Case Management:*
* Deliver client centered services with strengths-based approach.
* Establish working respectful and collaborative relationships with clients.
* Assess potential clients? eligibility for WorkBC Employment Services and provide resources and referrals to ineligible clients for other appropriate services.
* Conduct and interpret a Guided Interview with clients to determine their strengths, needs, abilities, skills, and identify barriers.
* Develop and revise collaborative action plans with clients to determine their employment goal, and the services, and activities necessary to achieve sustainable employment.
* Make referrals for specialized assessments and to community agencies as required.
* Provide Career Counselling services to include Career Assessments, Workshops, Training, Self-Employment, Wage Subsidy, or other WorkBC services as appropriate.
* Document client progress and milestones through the Integrated Case Management (ICM) database.
* Provide financial support based on Ministry guidelines and approved client maximums.
* Ensure expeditious access to programs and services clients are eligible for.
* Monitor client progress and revise action plans where required towards achievement of sustainable employment.
* Ensure accurate and timely ICM data entry and monitoring of required information for case managed clients.
* Utilization and interpretation of WorkBC policies, procedures, and services.
*Facilitation:*
* Facilitate employment-related workshops as required.
* Evaluate, develop and/or improve workshop curriculum to ensure effectiveness, relevance, and quality to support clients in achieving sustainable employment.
*Community Engagement:*
* Establish and maintain working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and community agencies to source job openings, secure employment opportunities for clients, and to market WorkBC services.
*Qualifications: *
* Preference for post-secondary bachelor?s degree, diploma, or certificate in Social Services or Humanities.
_*Note: May consider equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.*_
* Excellent administrative and computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Office/365.
* Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with clients, employers, and community partners.
* Knowledge of Peace River Regional District labour market is an asset.
* Competency in basic counselling and interviewing skills is an asset.
* Demonstrated ability to work with marginalized and culturally diverse populations.
* Demonstrated communication, collaboration, organization, and prioritization skills.
* Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals is an asset.
* Possession of Class 5 driver?s license.
* Physical and mental ability to do job, including ongoing plan for self-care.
*Compensation and Benefits Package: *
* Starting Wage $27.59 per hour 37.5 hours per week
* Vacation allowance starting at 3 weeks per year.
