*POSITION SUMMARY*
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Custodian is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and healthy environment for assigned Properties.
*DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES*
Ensures the cleanliness of the Agency?s properties as assigned by:
o Performing all cleaning duties in accordance with a weekly cleaning schedule,
o Following generally accepted principles of cleaning and sanitation,
o Carrying out routine maintenance and inspection procedures as detailed in the Building Preventative Maintenance checklist,
o Removal of waste/garbage from the interior and exterior of the buildings,
o Carrying out other maintenance, cleaning tasks or ground maintenance as requested by the Property Manager.
· Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies needed for the execution of the job,
· Ensure the safety of all customers, tenants, property and staff by following established WHMIS safety standards and Workplace Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures,
· Actively participate in the identification of workplace hazards with the aim of continuously improving the work environment,
· Escalate any custodial, maintenance and/or safety issues to the Property Manager for resolution.
*Staff Supervision Requirements:*
· None
*EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES *
· Secondary School Diploma,
· Six (6) months related experience,
· Strong communication skills (listening, verbal & written),
· Ability to perform all maintenance duties on a regular basis,
· Understanding of Health and Safety requirements,
· Understanding of WHIMIS,
· Ability to be flexible and work independently,
· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds,
· Ability to lift heavier items with the help of another employee or a lifting aide,
· Able to climb stairs, ladders etc.,
· A valid Driver?s license (G2 or higher),
· A Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector within the last 6 months is required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $23.73 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
