NLHealthServices.ca Job Summary This position provides psychological services to children and youth, as well as consults to professionals throughout the province. The Clinical Psychologist III will design, develop, implement and evaluate group therapy/treatment programs; conduct psychological assessment to conceptualize and diagnose using DSM-5-TR; and provide intervention for clients referred to the program, in close consultation with the interdisciplinary team (Social Worker, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Dietitian, and Pediatrician). Brief individual therapy will be required when appropriate. The psychologist in the program will be expected to conduct research/evaluation. The psychologist will also be required to attend traveling clinics. They will be an active member of committees for policy development, as needed, and will be involved with health promotion activities in partnership with other organizations. Some flexibility in work hours is required as team programming occasionally takes place during the evening. The Clinical Psychologist provides supervision to Psychology residents, doctoral students and provisionally registered Psychologists.This position reports to the Division Manager for Children's and Women's Health, and maintains accountability to the Clinical Psychologist Professional Practice Consultant for integrity and professional practice issues. Job Demands By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Occasionally, there is lifting or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs for files, boxes, or equipment.Regularly sits; occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, and stands to facilitate or teach groups.Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.A higher-than-normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients. Job Qualifications Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required. Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
