Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Direct the operations of an organization or department that provides services
  • Plan and organize the operations of establishments that provide services to business
  • Market business services
  • Plan and control budget and expenditures
  • Supervise professional, para-legal and support staff and articling students
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Negotiate settlement of claims
  • Audit accounting records to determine income, exemptions, payable taxes, compliance with reporting regulations and existence of fraud
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations
  • Identify and solicit potential clients
  • Prepare T4 statements and other statements
  • Administer estate, personal, charitable, corporate and other types of trusts, direct trust account investments, receive and record investment income and disburse trust funds
  • Direct and control corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures within establish
  • Represent clients in small claims court and in other lower court proceedings, at tribunals and before administrative bodies
  • Consult with government regulatory and licensing agencies to ensure conformance to provincial standards
  • Hire and provide training for professional and non-professional staff
  • Advise clients of their legal rights and all matters related to law
  • Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
  • Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law
  • Enter client information in databases
