The Teacher is the subject matter expert and takes the lead in ensuring effective instructional programs for our students at Prophet River Dene Tsaa School. <p>Primary/Core Responsibilities<p> <p><p> Demonstrate respect for Prophet River First Nation language and culture protocols<p> Express a genuine interest in learning about the Nation?s language and culture to enhance students? learning in the classroom.<p> Teach students based on the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines<p> Prepare overviews, plan, and deliver lessons for all subject areas<p><p><p> Provide classroom supervision and management<p> Provide individualized instruction and intervention in literacy and numeracy<p> Modify and adapt programs to account for a diversity of learning needs<p> Implement testing and report data as required<p> Assess and record students? progress by developing report cards and individual education plans<p><p><p> Identify goals for students in individual education plans<p> Establish and build relationships with the students? families and the Prophet River First Nation at large<p> Communicate regularly with families about students? progress<p> Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom<p> Use classroom management strategies to promote a healthy, safe, and orderly classroom environment<p> Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events<p> Supervise students during school hours and at in school events hosted in the community<p> Observe and understand students? behavior and report suspicions of neglect, abuse etc.<p> Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and workshops<p> Participate in regular staff meetings to support the smooth running and administration of the school <p> Support the leadership team to implement Prophet River First Nation?s vision and goals for their students.<p> Be willing to participate in regular coaching and training to better own skills as an effective educator<p><p><p> Learns and performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Prophet River First Nation policies, standards, practices, and procedures, as directed by the Director of Education.<p><p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <p>? Enjoys working with and supporting children <p>? Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with students and parents from diverse backgrounds; ability to build rapport and trust <p>? Demonstrates ability to listen well and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with discretion, tact, courtesy, and professionalism<p>? Empathetic, patient and approachable <p>? Exceptional organizational and time management skills <p>? Ability to use and keep up-to-date with various technologies for teaching purposes (e.g. smartboard, iPad, learning applications, etc.) <p>? Strong knowledge of child development and behavior <p>? Professional with the ability to maintain confidentiality <p>? Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the community<p>? Ability to work effectively as part of a team and get along well with others<p>? Ability to work independently with demonstrated initiative<p>?
