We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. We pride ourselves on creating a unique, student- centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9. We promote holistic development that nurtures growth academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Students and families are also welcomed into a dynamic and supportive learning community that extends outside of the classroom walls.<p>What we require: <p><p> Successful experience working with students of Aboriginal ancestry<p> Knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal culture and traditions<p> Proven written and verbal communications skills, as well as, exceptional time management and organizational skills<p> Experience in Team Development<p> Superior abilities in verbal and written communication<p> Have demonstrated interest in success or all learners a belief that proper interventions can result in greater opportunities<p> Be a self-starter who will show initiative and operate with minimum supervision<p> Have the ability and ready willingness to listen to and follow directions for duties to be performed<p> Be able to handle behavior concerns in a rational, equitable and respectful manner<p> Be able to work constructively as a team player as school programs are being developed<p> Work with individual and groups of students<p> Perform duties in a friendly supportive caring manner towards staff, students and visitors to the school<p> Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Sector is required<p> Has valid BC Driver?s License (Class 5) or N<p> Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset
