Educational Assistant <p>(Daily Occasional OR Long-Term Assignment) <p>Are you looking for a rewarding career opportunity supporting children and youth in an educational setting?The Avon Maitland District School Board is a fully inclusive school district seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting students with special needs and providing positive learning environments inside our schools.Responsibilities<p>Educational assistants support students with many diverse needs. This work provides support for the behaviour, safety, medical and physical needs of a student. Duties may include lifting, toileting, positioning and transferring children and equipment and application of Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) (training provided). Educational assistants support students both individually and/or in a group setting.Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice.<p>Qualifications Educational Assistant Diploma and/or experience deemed equivalent by the Board<p> Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related field of study (Child Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker)<p> Experience in working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities is strongly preferred and school-based experience is considered an asset<p> Flexibility, patience, empathy and the ability to work closely with students with complex needs, classroom teacher, and Administration<p> Candidates must be capable of performing the essential physical duties of the position, such as running/walking on uneven ground, lifting, positioning and transferring children and equipment and utilizing Behaviour Management System techniques where required<p> Access to a reliable method of transportation and ability to attend specific schools<p> Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice.<p>Start Date: As soon as possible<p>Hours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday - Friday from September to June<p>Daily Rate: : $23.28 per hour + vacation pay<p>Long Term Assignment Rate: $25.56 + vacation pay<p> Permanent Rate: $25.56 - $28.26 + pension and benefits <p>We thank all applicants for their interest in opportunities with the Avon Maitland District School Board.
