*Job Summary:*
The Facilities Manager for Tawâw will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the building that provide long-term housing solutions and supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness. The role ensures that facilities are safe, clean, compliant with relevant regulations, and conducive to providing a stable living environment for residents.
*Maintenance and Repairs: *
· Oversee routine and emergency maintenance for housing units, common areas, and building infrastructure.
· Schedule and manage repairs, ensuring a timely response to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
· Work with external contractors as needed for specialized services (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
· Perform regular inspections of the property to identify and address potential safety hazards or maintenance needs.
*Facilities Management:*
· Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to avoid major repairs and extend the lifespan of building systems.
· Ensure all building systems (e.g., heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical) are functioning optimally.
· Maintain records of repairs, inspections, and service contracts for equipment and building systems.
· Report any major concerns immediately to Executive Director
*Safety and Compliance:*
· Ensure the property is compliant with local, provincial, and federal safety and building regulations, including fire safety and CCU compliance.
· Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans, conducting regular drills and safety inspections.
· Coordinate with local agencies for inspections and ensure all permits and licenses are up to date.
· Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment for staff and clients.
· Conduct regular safety assessments of the facility and address any hazards or concerns promptly.
· Provide training to staff on safety procedures, crisis de-escalation techniques, and emergency response protocols.
· Respond to incidents or emergencies as needed, coordinating with appropriate authorities and agencies as required.
*Vendor and Budget Management:*
· Negotiate and manage relationships with vendors for supplies, maintenance services, and other facility-related contracts.
· Monitor and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining the quality of services.
· Purchase necessary equipment and supplies for building maintenance and cleaning in a cost-efficient manner.
*Resident Support:*
· Work closely with management and staff to ensure the physical environment supports residents? well-being.
· Address maintenance requests or concerns raised by residents promptly and professionally.
· Assist with unit turnovers, ensuring vacated units are quickly prepared for new occupants.
*Continuous Improvement and Training:*
· Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in homeless services, supportive housing, and trauma-informed care.
· Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
*Cultural:*
· Expected to participate in on the land camps and teachings.
· Attend ceremony with clients.
· Required to have an understanding of intergenerational impacts of colonization.
· Maintain strong understanding of Indigenous practice and protocol.
*Miscellaneous:*
· Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community partners, government agencies, funders, and other stakeholders to enhance program visibility and sustainability.
· Be familiar with emergency procedures and follow them in case of emergency.
· Answer the phone if needed.
· Maintain client confidentiality, including the destruction of records as required.
· Refer any new ideas for program update to the management.
· Undertake any other related duties as assigned by the management
