*Reports to:* Owner/Management Company
*Responsibilities:*
* Administer, coordinate and direct all activities of the residence
* Ensure the provision of high-quality care for residents and resident satisfaction
* Maintain confidentiality of all financial, personnel and resident data
* Monitor adherence to fire and safety procedures in the residence. Ensure continued participation of all staff in fire drills and safety measures.
* Refer and adhere to all policies and procedures as they are in effect
* Manage residence in accordance with legislative requirements
* Provide leadership and motivation to the staff for the achievement of the residence's objectives
* Establish or facilitate new services with the approval of the Owner/Management Company
* Ensure maintenance of accurate records of residents, personnel, and the operations in order to provide regular reports to the Owner/Management Company on the activities, needs and problems of the residence
* Negotiate and enter into contracts required for ordinary operations of business
* Liaise and consult with inspectors and professionals in relation to the operation of the residence
* Undertake all other responsibilities delegated by the Owner/Management Company
_Staff Supervision:_
* Be knowledgeable of job responsibilities and descriptions of all staff
* Provide supervision and direction for all office and management staff
* Assess and monitor staffing needs
* Select, hire and as necessary, terminate employees
* Conduct performance appraisals and evaluations of employees
* Ensure that Registered Staff members are current in their registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Provide orientation, instructions, supervision and on-going in-service training of all employees
* Prepare agenda for general staff meetings with input from personnel
* Ensure that assignments and work duties are divided fairly between staff and shifts
* Handle all employee relations and labour grievances for both unionized and non-unionized staff
*Qualifications:*
* Previous managerial experience in a retirement home or long-term care home an asset
* Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors
* Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families with a high degree of patience, tolerance and confidentiality
* Initiative, good judgment and leadership abilities, supervisory capabilities
* Good communication skills; both oral and written
* Working knowledge of the following legislation:

* _Employment Standards Act_ __ __
* _Labour Relations Act _
* _Occupational Health and Safety Act_
* _Workers? Compensation Act _ __
* _Coroner's Act _
* _Regulated Health Professions Act_
* _Familiar with ORCA Standards_

TBD depending on level of experience
