Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Dental practice. Tasks: Conduct initial dental assessments. Consult with dentists on patient care. Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene. Clean and stimulate the gums to prevent gum disease. Apply fluoride treatment. Remove stains and deposits from teeth. Administer local anesthetics. Take, develop and mount X-rays. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Dental Hygienists Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial governing body. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Attention to detail. Sitting.
