Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Sheet metal technology/sheetworking. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. At heights. Work setting: Installation. Shop fabrication. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction. Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Operate plasma cutters. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Construction specialization: Roofing. Specialization or experience: Custom sheet metal items. Eavestroughing and flashing. Roof decking. Sheeting and cladding. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
