Job details
Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd., a leading bulk material export facility located on the North Vancouver waterfront, is seeking an individual to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating excellence in working with shareholders, the operations team, and stakeholders, to ensure the efficient coordination of the arrival and departure of vessels. The Logistics Planner is also responsible for ensuring the provision of all necessary documentation and information for cargo operations, vessel arrival and departure management, vessel and terminal compliance with regulatory requirements.. This is a full time position, reporting to the Director of Marine Logistics.
*Key Responsibilities:*
_Terminal Logistics execution and administration_
* Provides information for vessel loading and unloading requirements, including stowage and load plans, to assist in the preparation of shareholder and terminal operational plans.
* Assist with the preparation of the four-day plan.
* Plans and coordinates all aspects of the berthing and departure of vessels for all terminal berths.
* Meets with vessel officers, agents and owners on board vessels, as required to support operations.
* Coordinates service providers for sampling, surveying, and others, as required.
* Updates and uses vessel schedules to support operations for all berths.
* Liaises with vessel agents to ensure pilots and tugs are ordered to meet terminal vessel requirements.
_Recording and Reconciliation _
* Reconciles cargo activity reporting and onsite inventories.
* Plans vessels positions and orders mooring lines crews to meet vessel operation plans and all safety requirements.
* Prepares final cargo and vessel service billings and ensures vessel delays and their resulting charges are minimized. Assists with cost recovery wherever possible, to benefit shareholders.
_Assigned other duties_
* Provides on-call coordination for terminal vessel operations outside daily office hours, supporting 24 x 7 terminal operations, per typical 4 day on 3 day off work schedule, or as required by the Department Head.
* Provides primary relief/vacation coverage, for other Traffic Department roles, as required.
*Skills and Abilities:*
* Demonstrate ability to set priorities and organize workload effectively, in a fast-paced environment, recognizing changing conditions and circumstances, while maintaining the highest level of integrity for standards, best practices and risk management.
* The ability to act independently, or as part of a team, to achieve optimal results.
* Superior communication skills (written and verbal).
* Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of cooperation, respect and team culture.
* Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, and demonstrated ability to learn new software applications.
* An understanding of industrial work environments and safety policies.
* Support a terminal based work location and a 7 day a week continuous operation.
* Working a typical 4 day on 3 day off work schedule including one weekend day. Ability to work irregular hours ? on call, as or when required.
*Education and Experience:*
* University or Technical School graduate, specializing in transportation/ distribution.
* Minimum of five (5) years? experience in an operations environment, with experience in logistics or industrial transportation.
* Experience with marine vessel operations or material bulk loading/unloading in a waterfront, mining, rail or similar operation preferred.
