Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Hot. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Willing to relocate. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Civil (road and bridge construction, etc.). Industrial. Residential. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Determine weldability of materials. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Plasma arc welding (PAW). Spray. Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Truck repair. Machinery or equipment repair. Structural construction. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Willing to travel. Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is not available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Overtime required. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety harness. Gloves. Mask. Face shield.
