The Vancouver Waldorf School, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee all People programs at the VWS. This will be the VWS? first dedicated HR Manager and an exciting opportunity for this sole HR practitioner to partner with the VWS team to create, reshape, and elevate programs across all HR areas.
The HR Manager will be responsible for shaping, delivering, and managing all Human Resources initiatives, activities, and programs at the VWS, including employee relations, workplace culture and experience, strategic workforce planning, organizational design, learning and development, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, people operations and processes, diversity and inclusion, and performance management.
This role will act as a trusted point of contact for all employees of the VWS on matters of employee experience, employee relations, and people programs. The HR Manager will also provide strategic guidance to the VWS Management Team and Vancouver Waldorf School Society (VWSS) Board of Trustees on key workforce matters. An objective, experienced, and skilled HR Generalist, the HR Manager oversees the development and maintenance of an outstanding workplace experience for VWS employees.
*Desired Qualifications and Attributes*
* 5+ years progressive experience in an HR role, with 1+ years experience developing, owning, and leading full people programs independently.
* Experience analyzing and advising on HR trends, programs, and issues across multiple HR areas, providing guidance and support to individual employees and people managers.
* Strong working knowledge of employment standards and areas of workforce risk.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities.
* Ability to influence leaders at all levels to adopt best people practices, while effectively advocating for and carrying through key tactics and change initiatives.
* Trusted relationship-builder, with a high degree of professionalism, objectivity, and ethical conduct.
* Highly responsive and approachable with strong emotional intelligence and stakeholder service orientation.
* Impeccable attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to thrive when working independently, taking initiative wherever possible.
* Competency with computers and high proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent organization, multi-tasking, time-management, and communication skills.
* Reliability; following through on initiatives and requests.
* Knowledge of Waldorf school philosophy or willingness to undertake active self-study and mentoring.
* Experience in an educational environment, not-for-profit organization, and/or an organization with a complex governance matrix is an asset.
