If you?re ready to make an impact and contribute to PSD team, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity!<p>The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the daily accounting operations within the School Division?s Financial Services Department. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides leadership and guidance to the accounting team. The Accounting Supervisor is also responsible for the preparation of financial reports, budget support, conducting internal audits, and liaising with other departments to facilitate financial processes.<p>Key Responsibilities: <p>Financial Reporting & Compliance <p><p> Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.<p> Ensure financial operations comply with applicable regulations, school division policies, and accounting standards (Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), Alberta Education Guidelines for the Preparation of School Jurisdiction Audited Financial Statements).<p> Prepare and review reports for internal and external stakeholders (Board of Trustees, senior leadership, site leaders, public) as well as external audits.<p> Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.<p><p> Internal Audits <p><p> Plan and conduct regular internal audits to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records and compliance with internal policies.<p> Evaluate internal controls, assess financial risks, and recommend improvements or corrective actions.<p> Report audit findings to the Director of Financial Services and other key stakeholders, providing suggestions to enhance financial processes and controls.<p> Work closely with departments to address audit concerns and ensure ongoing compliance with established procedures.<p><p> Accounting Operations <p><p> Supervise day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.<p> Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, month-end and year-end close processes.<p> Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.<p> Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the division?s financial resources.<p><p> Team Leadership & Development <p><p> Provide direction, support, and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering professional development and continuous learning.<p> Assign tasks and review the work of the accounting team to ensure accuracy and completeness.<p> Conduct performance evaluations and contribute to hiring, training, and developing staff within the financial services department.<p><p> Budget & Finan- LocationStony Plain, AB
