TEACHING VACANCY: POSTING NO. 6 MAY 15, 2024 School: Decker Lake Elementary School, Burns Lake BC Start Date: September 1, 2024 to April 23, 2025 (Maternity Leave) Salary: $60,648 - $114,735 + current provincial recruitment and retention allowance Assignment: 1.0 Limited Duration Specialist Position School Based Resource/Prep Relief Teacher SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE PRINCIPAL Nechako Lakes School District gratefully acknowledges that we live, work, and play on the unceded, ancestral territories of fourteen First Nations representing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. The School District Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC. We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Come and enjoy over 200 lakes, rivers and streams and an abundance of outdoor recreation at your doorstep. Qualifications : Bachelor of Education. A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare. Minimum completion of 3rd and 4th year level university course work necessary for teaching the senior level curricula that are part of this assignment. Completion or partial completion of a professional certification or university degree program in Inclusive Education. Training in functional behaviour assessment and behavioural intervention strategies. Training or experience in the Response to Intervention model of supporting students who require assistance with their learning. Experience in developing and implementing IEPs. Experience in IEP / IBI case management and working with intensive behaviour students. Experience with MyEducation Student Services module. Experience writing Competency Based IEP's Experience as a case manager and supporting learners in the classroom, in small groups and individually. Experience working collaboratively with Provincial Outreach Programs. Experience mentoring new Case managers. Experience with supporting learners with assistive technology. Training and recent successful experience teaching both literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills in a variety of curriculum areas at the primary/intermediate grade levels. Understand and use a trauma-informed approach in professional practice. Experience and knowledge using competency-based assessment strategies. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences. Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs. Understand and use a trauma-informed approach in professional practice. Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student. Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students.
