Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Consider water saturation, light and temperature when planning for germination
  • Direct greenhouse and nursery operations
  • Greenhouse cleaning
  • Harvest seedlings
  • Implement sustainable gardening trends such as permaculture practices
  • Maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy and grapes
  • Mixing fertilizer
  • Organize greenhouse and nursery operations
  • Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts
  • Tie and secure plants
  • Train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
  • Weeding
  • Control reported insect, disease and weed problems
  • Determine type and quantity of stock to grow
  • Develop marketing plans
  • Establish and maintain required environment
  • Establish work schedules
  • Hire, train and supervise staff
  • Maintain financial and personnel records
  • Order materials and stock
  • Provide product care and other information and service to customers
  • Supervise staff in planting, transplanting, feeding and spraying
