The supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Control Technologists Maintenance group during the performance of regular preventative and corrective maintenance at the Muskrat Falls Generating Station, Terminal Station, Transition Compound and Converter Station with safety as a top priority. The incumbent is expected to exercise a considerable amount of judgement and personal initiative in the performance of day to day activities required to implement the maintenance plan.General Duties:The incumbent will assign work to employees to ensure the best possible use of resources and materials, and that any necessary outages are kept to a minimum duration. This position will also supervise employees engaged in completing all capital projects on schedule, administer the collective agreement, as well as review and approve timesheets which include leave and overtime. As well they will review and approve employees' expense reports for travel and other miscellaneous expenses.The incumbent must ensure the necessary tools, equipment, spare parts, etc. are properly maintained and are available for use when needed. In addition, the incumbent will conduct planned general inspections, as well as accident/incident investigations to ensure all hazards in the workplace are identified and eliminated or controlled. This position will also respond to emergency situations such as equipment failure and supervises employees to correct the problem as quickly and efficiently as possible and provides verbal and/or written reports to the operations leadership on the problems encountered, corrective action taken or recommended.This position will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all Corporate policies and procedures, and Ensures that all existing Corporate Policies, Safety and Loss Control Programs, etc., are adhered to by the Controls Department. The incumbent should also be familiar with the Environmental Policy and Guiding Principles and applicable environmental Standard Operating Procedures.Required QualificationsHigh school graduation and either graduation from an appropriate technology course, or an Interprovincial Journeyperson's certificate in the relevant trade with preference given to Protection and Controls or Electrical. A minimum 5-7 years' of progressively responsible electric utility experience with relevant and transferable experience at the supervisory or management levelCLOSING DATE: October 30, 2024Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro manages our province's electricity system.
