TEMPORARY LIBRARY RESOURCE TECHNICIAN<p> Full-Time - 35.0 Hours Per Week - 10 Months per year position (1.0 FTE)<p>Start date: Immediately; Duration: Undetermined<p>Reporting to the Principal, the Library Resource Technician is responsible for the efficient daily operation of the library services within an educational setting. <p>Duties/Responsibilities Maintain individual school resource collections including purchasing all print, non-print and audio-video resources, cataloguing materials, the circulation of library materials (sign-out, return renewal), and conducting an annual inventory;<p> Assist in the monitoring and planning/ preparation of annual estimates for school library needs;<p> Responsible for sending out overdue notices, compiling lists of overdue materials and users with materials owing;<p> Bulletin board preparation;<p> Professional library maintenance, vertical file organization, and technical service requirements;<p> Shelf reading, book shelving;<p> Provide assistance with students including library and research skills instruction, reading to students and maintaining routines and rules in the library;<p> Organize and operate book fairs and other promotional activities;<p> Assist staff with resources and reference materials as required;<p> Assist and support Literacy initiatives; and<p> Other related duties as assigned.<p>Qualifications Successful completion of a two-year community college library technician program plus a minimum of 6 months related job experience;<p> Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with students and staff;<p> Ability to take initiative;<p> Familiarity with computers, audio visual equipment and the ability to conduct preventive maintenance;<p> Keyboarding minimum 35 words per minute; and<p> Reliable transportation.<p>Applications must include: Cover Letter;<p> Resume; and<p> Proof of successful completion of a post-secondary Library Technician program.<p>Preference is given to individuals in the casual Library Resource Technician Pool for all permanent Library Resource Technician positions.<p>About Us: <p>The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13,000 students from Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk counties, the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
