*Job Overview*
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating equipment such as Forklifts, Telehandlers to load and unload materials and or finished products. Movement of products to and from storage areas and loading of transportation trucks and trailers safe and compliant. This role requires adherence to safety standards and protocols to maintain a secure working environment, following safe work practices. The Forklift Operator will report directly to the Logistics Manager. Some key responsibilities of the role include the following:
*Key Responsibilities*
*Material Handling:*
* Operate forklifts to load and unload materials, finished product and deliveries.
* Transport materials to and from storage and or staging areas.
* Movement of materials or products with attention to the prevention of damages.
*Inventory Management:*
* Maintain accurate inventory records by verifying quantities and item numbers of products delivered or loaded to be delivered.
* Document materials coming into plant or returning to inventory.
* Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.
*Warehouse Operations:*
* Organize and secure materials in the correct storage locations.
* Ensure that the work area is clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
* Keep yard tidy and perform snow clearing.
* Provide customers, vendors, and delivery drivers with the highest level of service ensuring all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications.
*Safety and Maintenance:*
* Perform daily equipment checks to ensure forklifts are in safe and operational condition.
* Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
*Safety and Compliance:*
* Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
* Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
* Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Operate factory equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
*Quality Control:*
* Inspect products for damage and report discrepancies or quality issues.
* Ensure accurate and damage-free handling of products.
*Documentation:*
* Complete necessary paperwork and update records accurately.
* Maintain a log of daily activities and operations.
*Required Skills and Qualifications*
*Educational Background:*
* High school diploma or equivalent.
*Experience:*
* Proven experience as a forklift operator.
* Experience in a warehouse or industrial setting is preferred.
*Skills:*
* Ability to operate industrial vehicles (forklifts) safely and efficiently.
