*Reports To: *DF BarnesServices Welding Supervisor
Journeyman Welder?s key responsibility is to operate welding equipment to weld ferrous and non- ferrous metals. Accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks is an integral part of the work. Welders work in a variety of environments, which includes working outdoors at a remote locations, outside in a marine environment, inside/outside at DFB facilities and traveling outside the greater St. John's area. He/she must work well independently or in a team environment and provide analyses/ recommendations directly to the Welding Supervisor. Welders may also perform duties within their capabilities in addition to those identified in this job description.
*Main Duties:*
· Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
· Layout patterns
· Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-core arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, oxy-acetylene cutting
· Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
· Select filler rods
· Operate metal shaping machines such as shears, brakes, and other metal
straightening or bending machines
· Operate hoisting and lifting equipment
· Fabricate metal parts and products
· Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
· Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding equipment
· Record hours, materials and equipment on timecards to satisfy QA requirements
· Encourage and instruct apprentices
· Provide quality work in a timely and efficient manner
· Other duties within the incumbent?s capabilities as required
Requirements:
· Be physically fit and possess good hand ? eye coordination and manual dexterity
· Pay attention to detail
· Have excellent communication skills
· Be able to work shift work and overtime when required
HSEQ Responsibilities:
· Carry out work in accordance with established procedures
· Participate in the Act of Vigilance (AOV) program
· Report failures to meet requirements (nonconformances) and identify opportunities to improve
· All personnel are responsible for complying with regulatory and corporate
HSE and Quality requirements, including those related to product and the protection of people and the environment
Qualifications and Competency Requirements:
· 1 ? 4 years relevant work experience
· Marine/ship repair experience
· Journeyman Welder Inter-Provincial Certification
· CWB SMAW All position and ASME certification (ASME - beneficial but not required)
· Valid NL certified FP & CSE
· Possess valid driver?s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.50 per hour
