*Job Description*
· Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design engineers, project teams, and vendors to design components and systems for large, high-quality CNC milling machines.
· Contribute to R&D design for accessories and processes specific to large machine tool applications.
· Design custom fixtures and workholding solutions to meet a variety of end-user needs using off-the-shelf automation components and purpose-built parts.
· Organize and participate in design reviews.
· Work directly with vendors to establish strong working relationships and resolve issues.
· Perform 3D CAD design using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation.
· Conduct FEA analysis for both static and dynamic assessments.
· Support Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and Marketing teams with design insights.
· Create detailed drawings of mechanical components and systems, with a focus on GD&T.
· Engage in hands-on work with manufacturing and service teams.
· Assist in retrofitting older equipment in collaboration with the Service team.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience (other relevant experience will be considered).
* Diploma in Mechanical Design or Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong 2D/3D modeling capabilities using SolidWorks, along with experience in structural FEA analysis and GD&T.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Manufacturing experience (machining, welding, casting) is an asset.
* Experience with metal additive manufacturing and advanced manufacturing techniques is also an asset.
* Proficiency in a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques.
* Familiarity with ERP or CRM systems.
* Electromechanical or robotic knowledge (motors, motion systems, sensors).
Skills
* A creative approach to providing innovative solutions to technical problems.
* Knowledge of designing large mechanical equipment.
* Experience with large-scale projects.
* Good understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
* Proficient in hydraulic and pneumatic design.
* Experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
* Ability to select linear bearings and size ballscrews.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of CAM software.
