Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p>We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed educator to join the: <p>2024/2025 Black Youth Forum Program <p> Overview The Black Youth Program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: IDC3O, IDC4O or IDC4U.It will be held In-Person at 440 Albert Street on Wednesdays from November 6, 2024, to May 28, 2025 (28 evenings). In addition, staff and students may be required to attend sessions outside of this time frame, including the Black Youth Forum (date TBD). Each session is 3.85 instructional hours.Teachers must be prepared to deliver the assigned credit through a PREDETERMINED Schedule. <p>Please note, as per the most recent collective agreement, article 40.02 c: in the event that the Employer cancels two (2) or more days/evenings of Continuing Education courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, Continuing Education teachers will be required to attend and teach a make-up day.Pay rate: Currently $55.45 /hour + 4% vacation pay <p> Qualifications The Black Youth Program constitutes a Special Program pursuant to Section 14 of the Ontario Human Rights Code as it has been put into place to relieve hardships associated with a historically disadvantaged group and to assist Black students in the group to achieve equal opportunity in education. As such, it is an essential requirement of the position that the successful applicant identifies as a member of the African, Black and African-Caribbean communities and they can demonstrate a shared lived experience, as they will be uniquely placed to deliver the curriculum and to support the goals and needs of the program. Applicants MUST hold Intermediate & Senior qualifications with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing) at the time of application. <p> Eligibility Subject to the essential requirement above, all teachers (with or without Continuing Education (CE) Seniority) can apply to this posting. Order of Consideration Teachers with CE Seniority who appear on the October 2024 Continuing Education Seniority List with applicable qualifications including identification as a member of the historically disadvantaged group with shared lived experience, are encouraged to apply and will be granted an interview.
