*Job Summary* The Utility Locator will be responsible for locating various underground utilities such as gas, water, sewer, electric and telecommunications lines and ensure they are marked before excavation and drilling. The preferred candidate will have experience within the utility construction and maintenance industry. *Duties* * At least 1 years? experience of locating utilities. * Clearly mark the location of underground utilities using spray paint, flags or stakes. * Read utility locate drawings and paint markings * Must have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams related to the project design, have knowledge of utility depths and placement. * Ability to use utility locaters such as Vivax Metrotech, Dynatel, RadioDetection etc. * The operators perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment. They ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards. * Must be able to work in remote or congested areas. Must be able to work out of town. * Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and work overtime as required. * Ability to troubleshoot locating equipment and resolving issues I the field. * Certification in utility locating is preferred. *Additional Requirements* * A Valid Class 5 Driver's license is required. Current 5 year drivers abstract will be requested upon interview. * Must be able to provide 3 years commercial insurance history or letter of experience if located out of province. * Must have the ability to manage time effectively. * Must be self-motivated and be a positive influence on your co-workers. * The candidate must be able to solve problems and exercise good judgement.
