Candidates<p>will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated<p>ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and<p>equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being. <p> Qualifications <p>Under the direction of<p>the Principal, the Educational Assistant is an integral member of the school<p>team and is responsible for the provision of support to students with<p>exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with<p>confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability.<p>Responsibilities are varied, in collaboration with teaching and other<p>professional staff, and include: supporting students with Autism<p>Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities; participation in pool programs, academic<p>support, implementing special programs, support to deaf/hard of hearing or<p>visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises and stretches.<p>Educational Assistants<p>may be required to modify programs and support learning for students with<p>learning disabilities, and speech/language issues. Assignments may also include<p>outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties. Knowledge of<p>Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and<p>Kurzweil are assets.Candidate Profile: <p>The successful candidate<p>will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker,<p>Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1-2 years of<p>related experience with school aged special needs children. Equivalent programs<p>must be assessed by People, Culture and Leadership staff. Valid First Aid<p>certification/CPR Level C is required. The successful candidate will have also<p>completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management<p>Systems (BMS) training. Please ensure that you include copies of your<p>diploma(s) and/or certificates that are applicable to the qualifications of an<p>Educational Assistant.
