Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Tasks: Select dies for forging according to specifications. Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature. Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery. Place metal pieces in furnace. Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal. Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Read blueprints and drawings. Aviation special processes: Heat treatment. Type of operation: Metal rolling. Grinding. Mining equipment: Cutting machine. Equipment and machinery experience: Industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts. Power tools. Precision measuring instrument. Wheelabrator. Stamping machine. Shotblaster. Shearing machines. Power presses. Furnace hand tongs. Cutting torches. Patternmaking experience: Production pattern equipment. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Punching. Forming. Bending. Area of specialization: Blacksmiths. Bench assembly. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail.
