For more information about our school district, visit https://www.vsb.bc.ca/.<p>On-Call SSAs must be available to work a minimum of 3 full days per week. Applicants must be available to work throughout the district and may also be required to travel to two locations on the same day (eg. one school in the morning and another in the afternoon). Once hired, you can choose to remain on the on-call list or you can apply to the VSB?s internal postings which include full-time temporary contracts and continuing/permanent positions. All permanent positions include a comprehensive benefits package (including extended health, dental and municipal pension plan) after passing a probation period of 16 weeks.<p><p>Duties may include, but are not limited to:<p><p> Collecting data and tracking student progress<p> Supporting students when they display unexpected behavior <p> Fostering positive interactions between the student and their peers<p> Implement individualized programs and activities while focusing on building independence<p> Providing personal care: Dressing, toileting (including diaper changes), feeding, lifting, transfers to and from a wheelchair etc<p> Escorting student on community outings and travelling throughout the city. This may include accompanying and supporting students on work experience at various sites.<p><p>Qualifications: <p><p> Completion of Grade 12<p> Completion of a Special Education Assistant program or related field and over two (2) months of experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience<p> Ability to independently lift and position students up to 35 pounds <p> Ability to run- LocationVancouver, BC
