This position reports to the supervisor of Transportation and assists the Bus Driver in loading, unloading, supervising and monitoring students with special needs. Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours.<p>POSTING DETAILS <p><p> Position - Bus Monitor<p> Start Date -<p> As soon as possible (flexible)<p> Schedule - Casual<p> / On Call (hours vary)<p><p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES <p><p> Supervises and monitors students with special needs<p> while enroute to school and home.<p> Assists Bus Driver in loading, securing and unloading<p> the students.<p> Administers First Aid as required.<p> Relays information between parents and teachers.<p> Performs other assigned comparable duties which are<p> within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class<p> specification.<p><p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS <p><p> Grade 10.<p> First Aid Certificate (1 day Emergency First Aid with<p> CPR or equivalent).<p> Ability to interact with students in an effective<p> manner.<p> Ability to communicate effectively using tact and<p> discretion in the explanation and clarification of information.<p> Ability to use judgement in applying established<p> methods and procedures.<p> Physical ability to perform the required duties.<p><p>For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included: <p><p> Resume <p> Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, former supervisors from your most recent/relevant role)<p> Proof of completion of Grade 10 / graduation from high school (or completion of other post-secondary education)<p> Valid/Current first aid certification (proof of registration for the course can serve as a placeholder for your application; however, you need to complete the course prior to beginning work in the district)<p><p>PLEASE NOTE <p><p> In accordance with the Criminal Record Review Act,<p> successful applicants will be required to consent to a Criminal Record<p> Check prior to employment. <p> We thank you for your interest in the Langley School<p> District; however, only those persons selected for interviews will be<p> contacted.- LocationLangley, BC
