Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours.<p>POSTING DETAILS <p><p> Position - Aboriginal Support<p> Worker<p> Start Date - As soon<p> as possible (flexible)<p> Schedule<p> - Casual / Permanent / Term<p> Location(s) - Varied<p><p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS <p><p><p> Consistent with the British Columbia Human Rights code, Aboriginal Ancestry is a bona-fide requirement for this position.<p> Grade 12 graduation and completion of a two-year post-secondary program in Aboriginal studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.<p> Two to three<p> years related experience working with Aboriginal peoples, including<p> involvement with Aboriginal culture and traditions.<p> Thorough<p> understanding of Canadian history and education of Aboriginal peoples.<p> Working<p> knowledge of computers.<p> Ability to be<p> flexible to meet the varying academic, social, emotional, behavioral and<p> cultural needs of students.<p> Ability to<p> determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within<p> established methods and procedures.<p> Ability to<p> communicate effectively using tact, discretion and diplomacy in contacts<p> of a difficult or specialized nature.<p> Physical<p> ability to perform the required duties.<p><p>For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included: <p><p> Resume <p> Cover Letter (please elaborate on your lived experience as an Indigenous person)<p> Copies of any relevant certifications for the role<p> Copy of your transcript (official or unofficial) from your post-secondary program<p> Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, former supervisors from your most recent/relevant role)<p> Proof of high school graduation (or completion of other post-secondary education)<p><p><p><p><p>PLEASE NOTE <p><p> In accordance<p> with the Criminal Record Review Act, successful applicants will be<p> required to consent to a Criminal Record Check prior to<p> employment. <p> We thank you<p> for your interest in the Langley School District; however, only those<p> persons selected for interviews will be contacted.
