The South Shore Family Resource Association -is currently accepting applications for aParenting Journey Home Visitor -Queens CountyThe Parenting Journey Home Visitor will provide programs and services to families with children aged 0 to 18 (up to 19th birthday) through home visiting based supports. The Parenting Journey program is a voluntary program and is intended to provide support to families experiencing needs and challenges that may impact overall family functioning.The Home Visitor will be responsible for:Offering home visiting to families identified through family centered, strengths-based approaches,Screening, family assessment, goal setting, referrals to other community services, documentation, and case conferencing.The candidate will also be required to participate in ongoing training and professional development.Qualifications:An undergraduate degree/diploma in Social Sciences or a combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge and skills in child and youth developmentKnowledge and understanding of positive parenting and parent/child relationshipsKnowledge of the principles of adult educationExperience in working with familiesExperience in working with children and youthExperience in working in a community-based settingStrong knowledge and understanding of community development principles and experience in applying them.Excellent time management and organizational skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsExperience with trauma informed practices and approachesAbility to build relationships while maintaining healthy boundariesAbility to work independently and within a teamKnowledge of the services and supports for families in Queens CountyBasic computer skillsA valid driver's license and reliable transportationHours, Renumeration and Start Date:37.5 hours per week. $24/hour.
