Be part of our story. Come grow with us!POSITION OVERVIEW We're thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Computer Support Specialist to join our team. This position upon successful clearance of an RCMP enhanced clearance will be located in the Maple Ridge RCMP Detachment. As a Computer Support Specialist, you'll be the friendly face of our organization, providing top-notch onsite computer support and problem-solving services to our amazing team. Your day-to-day will involve diving into software and hardware issues on workstations, laptops, and network systems, ensuring everything runs smoothly for our users. But that's not all! You'll also be responsible for:Installing and configuring software and hardware with ease. Provide orientation and training to users, making sure everyone feels confident and empowered. Develop and implement helpful user aides to streamline processes. Build strong relationships with both internal and external contacts. Perform essential systems maintenance to keep everything running smoothly. If you're passionate about technology and love helping others, this role is perfect for you! EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of a two-year diploma course in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical institute or community college, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESConsiderable knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the installation, configuration and operation of computer equipment and software applications as related to the work performed. Sound knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to the work performed. Sound knowledge of communications and local area networks. Sound knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to work performed. Ability to examine users' current applications, practices, and needs, and to identify problems and recommend or implement solutions or improvements. Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve software and hardware problems and to liaise with vendor representatives and superiors on the more complex problems. Ability to evaluate computer software and hardware and make recommendations regarding the acquisition and use of products. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts and to provide advice, information, assistance, and specific applications training too same. Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work. HOURS OF WORKAs per article 13:01 c of the Collective Agreement:Seven (7) consecutive hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The standard work week consists of five (5) consecutive working days from Monday to Friday. LICENCES & CERTIFICATESClass 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia. ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThe successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment along with the ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP enhanced clearance. (Note - not required as part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment).
