Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Denturist's practice. Tasks: Take measurement to determine size and shape of dentures. Make impression and mould of teeth, gums and jaws. Construct dentures. Fit, adjust and repair dentures. Perform denture whitening and cleaning. Prepare partial dentures. Re-line and re-base dentures. Fabricate mouth protectors, anti-snoring prostheses and removable prostheses on implants. Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for use by denturists and dental technicians. Take dental impressions. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Polish and buff dentures. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures. Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts. Examine the patient. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Area of specialization: Full dentures. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Hand-eye co-ordination. Fast-paced environment. Walking. Standing for extended periods. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Interpersonal awareness.
