Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Cut, shape and join timber pieces or assemble pre-cut timber pieces to make wooden boats
  • Record information on products inspected
  • Assemble prefabricated parts and sections of fibreglass, metal or other materials to form boats
  • Change machinery attachments
  • Clean work area
  • Caulk decks and hulls
  • Monitor machine during operation
  • Install trims, rudders, seats, engine mounts and other accessories
  • Repair boats
  • Inspect assembled boats for defects and conformance to quality standards
  • Mark defects to be repaired
  • Affix seal or tags to approved products
  • Check manufactured items for defects and conformance to specifications
  • Complete reports on product inspection
  • Load, feed or place materials into machine
  • Operate machine to fabricate parts and products
  • Return defective products for repair or recycle
  • Sand, trim, grind or clean products into final form using hand tools
  • Screw, clip, glue, bond, weld or otherwise assemble parts and components to form final products
  • Cut, shape and fit materials to form parts and components
