POSITION TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES/PAYROLL ADMINISTRATORREPORTS TO: DIRECTOR, PEOPLE & CULTURELOCATION: HYBRID POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Director – People & Culture, the HR and Payroll Administrator will be responsible for participating in the search process, overseeing the full-cycle payroll function, and administration of both the company benefits and pension plan(s). This role will also be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and external customers, suppliers and agencies. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Human Resources and AdministrativeOffice supply inventory and orderingAnswer telephone and direct callers to correct person or take accurate messagesGreet visitors, determine nature of business and direct them to the correct personParticipate in search function including; advertising vacancies, collecting resumes, conducting phone screens and references, and organizing in-person interviewsAssemble interview packages and also new hire kitsRemain updated and communicate changes related to benefits or pension changes, payroll regulations and labour standardsOversee benefits and pension administration including; new hire entries, disability claims, employee assistant or inquiries, and, updates related to wage or personal information changesCreate and maintain employee files, both electronically and hard copyAdministrator for probationary review processAssists with special projects and performs related duties as assigned Payroll and AccountingCoordinate the payroll process within required and established guidelinesResponsible for entire payroll process related to both salary and hourly personnelEnsure bank reconciliation process if followed, accurate and timelyCompile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and other relevant deductionsExtract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracyEnsure that hours are categorized and allocated to correct cost centersOversee timeclock entries and verify any discrepancies with appropriate manager/supervisorUpdate and maintain accurate records management systemCreate required internal management reports from the payroll systemEnsure all pay rate changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periodFollow proper payroll procedures are followed for terminated employeesRemain updated and communicate changes related to benefits or pension changes, payroll regulations and labour standardsReconciliation of payroll totals to ensure all deductions and benefit plan payments are made as scheduledAccurate processing of sick pay, benefits, pension and vacation payoutsRespond to employee and government agency inquiries in regard to payroll and pensionEnsure accurate creation and timely distribution of T4sAccurate reporting; year-end payroll and monthly benefits and pensionAccurate and timely expense payment review and processingOther accounting duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Degree or diploma in Human Resources and/or AccountingMinimum 3 years experience conducting full-cycle payroll in a salary and hourly work environmentExperience with benefits and pension administrationExperience with Payworks payroll software will be considered an asset OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Exceptional communication skillsKnowledge of human resources and accounting practicesAbility to prioritize competing deadlines through organizational skills and multi-taskingProven data entry skills, both efficiently and accuratelyAbility to work independently as needed, and closely with all levels of staff and managementProficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliar with The Rack as a company along with products/services available Interested in joining our team?
