The Board operates 2 administration buildings and 21 schools (18 elementary, 2 secondary) in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4,580 pupils. For more information visit our web site at: https://rccdsb.ca/<p>RESPONSIBILITIES : Reporting under Plant Services, the incumbent is responsible for the cleaning of the school, ensuring through inspection that standards of cleanliness are maintained<p>OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE :<p><p><p> Carry out effective cleaning procedures of all interior and exterior parts of the building structure, furniture and equipment i.e. doors, floors, walls, windows, ceilings/light fixtures, stairways, washrooms, and carpets;<p> Perform the following other duties in designated sections as outlined by Plant Services Officer(s)<p> <p> Scrubbing, washing, polishing<p> Mopping wet and dry<p> Floor waxing and stripping<p> Spray buffing<p> Lifting, climbing<p> Vacuum<p> Remove recycling<p> Respond to any pages throughout the day<p> Sand, salt, shovel<p> Garbage removal<p> Furniture moving<p> Perform designated section as outlined by Plant Services Officer(s)<p> <p> Prepare and maintain accurate records as required, including monthly fire system checks, monthly fire extinguisher checks, monthly emergency lighting checks, sand/salting records, daily or weekly water flushing records, weekly eye wash system checks, work order requests, P.O. requests and all other ministry regulated reports/records;<p> Maintain and upkeep of all custodial equipment;<p> Ensure walkways and parking areas are properly sanded, salted, shoveled or plowed. If required shovel, salt or sand. Record daily even if sanding, salting, or plowing is not required. Records should include salting and/or sanding for Community Use of Schools on weekends and after school hours;<p> Monitor heating, cooling, lighting as to achieve comfort for building users and conserve energy;<p> Ensure compliance with WHMIS regulations and that chemicals are used, labelled and stored safely in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet;<p> Attend the school for fire, security or other after hour?s events;<p> Assist external groups using the school facilities, including opening/locking doors, and reporting any concerns to the Principal, Plant Services Officer(s) i.e. Damages, smoking, fire regulations;<p> Assist the Principal or Designate to carry out fire drills or lockdown drills if requested;<p> Check each classroom daily;<p> Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Designate, Manager of Plant Services or Plant Services Officer(s).<p><p>QUALIFICATIONS: <p><p><p> Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma;<p> A minimum of one year job experience in commercial/institutional janitorial work; <p> Ability to perform required physical tasks, including climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying moderate and heavy loads (up to 50 lbs.), including janitorial equipment, furniture, materials/supplies, pails of water/wax and bags of garbage;<p> A sound knowledge of building code (if necessary), fire code and safety regulations, practices and procedures such as WHMIS, use of personal protective equipment, lifting techniques, materials handling, including working from ladders; <p> Strong interpersonal skills with ability to function effectively with supervisors, plant staff, teachers, students, contractors and colleagues; <p> Proven ability to write text, including writing requisitions for supplies, and writing reports regarding occurrences at the job site; and the ability to read and understand manufactures literature and the installation and maintenance scheduling of equipment/preventative maintenance, WHMIS information, Safety Data Sheets and safety training course material; as well as possessing mathematical skills for conducting measurements and calculating various technic- LocationKillaloe, ON
