Job Title: Upper School Physics and Math Teacher Location: St. John's-Kilmarnock School (SJK), Breslau, ON Position Summary: <p>SJK is seeking a highly motivated and committed Grades 9-12 Physics and Math Teacher. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment, dedicated to the highest standards of teaching and learning. <p>Start Date: December 2, 2024 <p>Contract: Full-time position, one-year maternity leave contract <p>Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor of Education Degree <p> Intermediate and/or Senior Divisional Qualifications in Physics and Math <p> An Ontario College of Teachers Certificate, or eligibility for teacher certification in Ontario <p> OCT Membership in good standing <p> Experience teaching High School Physics and Math is an asset <p> Experience teaching and/or training in the International Baccalaureate MYP and/or DP is an asset <p> Independent school experience is an asset <p> Proficiency in more than one language is an asset <p> Training and engagement in inclusive education practices, including professional development related to inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity Competencies: A positive, enthusiastic, and encouraging approach to learning and all aspects of school life <p> Ability to integrate design, conceptual, and inquiry-based approaches into curriculum development, instruction, and assessment. <p> Collaborative and solution-focused, with a passion for teaching and learning <p> Excellent social, communication and self-management skills <p> A proven ability to build a caring rapport with students <p> Effective communication with students, families, and colleagues <p> An ability to instruct using a range of differentiated teaching strategies that honours the dignity of each student and meets the needs of all learners <p> An ability to use and embed a variety of technology tools and applications to enhance learning and promote digital citizenship <p> Culturally responsive approaches to teaching and learning, but not limited to including Indigenous ways of knowing <p> A dynamic, inclusive, collaborative, dedicated team player with a strong work ethic <p> Capacity to contribute to SJK's Co-Curricular Program <p> Willingness to learn and commitment to personal growth and development <p> Internationally-minded and open to supporting and cultivating partnerships locally, nationally, and globally School Description: <p>SJK is the leading co-educational independent school in the Waterloo Region of Ontario.
