We pride ourselves on providing staff and students with the tools to achieve success by offering dynamic programming, current resources, and practical professional learning opportunities.<p>EIPS is recruiting a Speech Language Pathologist with our Supports for Students department. <p>Supports for Students is located at the EIPS Central Administration building in Sherwood Park, at 683 Wye Road. Providing services for the division, Central administration is comprised of eight departments, in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive, Communication Services, Facility Services, Student Transportation, Human Resources, Financial Services, Supports for Students, and Information Technologies. Commencing November 24, 2024 <p> Flexible schedule and hours (28 - 36 hours per week) <p> EIPS offers a comprehensive benefit package <p> Open to internal and external applicants FUNCTION AND PURPOSE <p>The Speech-Language Pathologist works to promote the success of students by engaging in activities designed to eliminate, reduce or prevent communication disabilities/delays. In addition, the speech-language pathologist participates in building capacity in school teams and families.<p>KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES <p>Identification of students with speech and/or language impairments review school records and review pertinent information and reports as required<p> observe students in the classroom as required<p> informal demonstration of intervention strategies, procedures and techniques<p> provide follow-up consultation or initiate a formal referral for assessmentEvaluation and diagnosis of specific speech and/or language impairments <p>Balanced assessment may include: gathering information from family members, teachers, participating other professionals and paraprofessionals<p> selecting and administrating appropriate standardized and functional assessment instruments<p> administering hearing screenings as part of all new referrals<p> interpret the assessment results to identify strengths, needs and emerging abilities<p> establish the presence of a communication disorder, delay or difference and determine a severity ratingPlan and provide intervention directed at remediating specific speech and/or language impairments <p>Intervention and follow up may include support in the following areas: language (morphology, syntax, semantics and phonological awareness)<p> cognitive aspects of communication (including communication disability and other functional disabilities associated with cognitive impairment)<p> social aspects of communication (including challenging behaviour and pragmatics)<p> speech (articulation, phonology, motor speech, fluency and voice)<p> complex and multimodal communication needs (alternative and augmentative communication)<p> selecting, planning, and coordinating appropriate service delivery and scheduling options.<p> conducting formal and informal reviews to ensure that the goals and objectives reflect the student's needs. Re-evaluation leads to continuation or modification of the intervention, referral to other professionals or dismissal/review. Documentation <p>Documentation and accountability are required for each of the core roles of the speech-language pathologist.
