Position: Supervisor - Mechanical/Electrical <p> 12 Month Continuing Exempt Position<p> Department: Facility Services Department <p> Salary Range: $85,260 to $106,575 & Comprehensive Benefits Package<p><p> Summary: <p> Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this position is responsible for the supervision and management of employees engaged in specific trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical and audio/ visual electronics. The Supervisor of Electrical/Mechanical takes a leadership role in managing ongoing maintenance, new installations and upgrades to deliver safe and well-maintained schools and other facilities for students, staff, tenants and the public. <p><p> Duties & Responsibilities: <p><p> Supervision of staff, direct work, establish priorities, and coordinates the day-to-day operations<p> Liaise with school administration to address concerns and to maintain safe and reliable facilities<p> Assist with the preparation of plans, specifications and other bid documents for minor construction projects<p> In consultation with the Director of Facilities ensures relevant regulatory requirements are me<p> Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and compliant applicable regulation and policies<p> Monitors operating budgets and provides input and assistance in the planning and budgeting processes<p> Tracks, analyzes and provides input to improve key maintenance parameters such as work requests, time to complete, operating costs, purchasing processes and maintenance costs<p> Coordinates and directs external service providers and consultants for a variety of disciplines<p> Assists in the recruitment, performance evaluation and development of staff<p> May act as a representative on the Labour/management Committee or other committees as assigned<p> Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergent situations and attend to situations as required<p> Occasionally works outside of traditional office hours to supervise employees and contract service providers<p> Reviews employee attendance and performance and, where necessary, takes positive action for improvement <p><p><p> Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: <p><p> Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, tools, equipment and practices relevant to facility operations and construction<p> Thorough knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and computer-controlled energy management systems<p> Strong skills in the use of computer software including MS Word, MS Excel, maintenance management and building automation systems.<p> Demonstrated experience in hiring, evaluating and directing employees in a unionized environment<p> Ability to effectively and efficiently plan, organize and manage workloads and projects, set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure<p> Proven ability to make decisions in crisis situations using critical thinking skills and analytical problem solving<p> Ability travel within the school district outlying facility locations<p> Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing. <p> Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain respectful and cooperative working relationships and to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers, and partner groups at all levels<p> <p> Requirements/Qualifications: <p> <p> <p> Grade 12 High School Diploma<p> Valid BC or Interprovincial certification in a relevant trade, or diploma in building technology, facility management, engineering degree or other appropriate designation.<p> Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment, including supervising tradespersons involved in facility operations and construction<p> Hold and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver?s License<p> Successful completion of a Criminal Record Review<p> Successful completion of an annual Professional Growth Plan will be part of the expectations for this role.<p><p>Questions related to this job can be sent to achristensen@sd57.bc.ca<p>
