Employment Opportunity<p>TEACHER-ON-CALL <p>Reference No. QSL-QSE-TOC-0023<p>PURPOSE: Reporting to the Principal, the purpose of a Teacher-on-Call is to instruct students in a variety of academic subjects at Quw'utsun Smuneem Elementary School in the absence of the assigned classroom Teacher. Quw'utsun Smuneem Elementary School teaches students from Kindergarten to Grade Four. This position is on-call or as needed based on staffing levels. The Teacher-on-Call will work onsite with minimal local travel required. Cowichan Tribes will be accepting applications for the remainder of the 2022/2023 school year.<p>RESPONSIBILITIES: <p>Instruct Students In Academic Subjects:<p><p> Implement daily lesson plans as per BC Ministry of Education guidelines<p> Modify lessons as per the individual student?s needs<p> Track individual student performance, behaviours and any issues <p> Maintain order and manage student behaviours while providing a lesson<p> Provide general counselling to students<p> Other related duties as required<p><p>Provide Administrative Support to the Program:<p><p> When required, prepare student lessons and assignments to meet regulated curriculum objectives<p> Track student?s daily attendance<p> Debrief with supervisor, other teachers, and parents if student issues arise<p> Ensure a safe learning environment for all students<p> Ensure Cowichan culture, values, and language are integrated in an appropriate manner in classroom activities<p> Other related duties<p><p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (please attach all required documents) <p><p> Bachelors of Education Degree required<p> Valid Certificate from Teacher Regulation Branch<p> 2 years? teaching experience preferred<p> Experience working in a First Nations community is essential and a willingness to learn about culture, customs & traditions of Cowichan people<p> Criminal Record Check required<p> First Aid / CPR-C required<p> Effective December 1, 2021: full vaccination against COVID-19 is required to be eligible for employment at Cowichan Tribes. All individuals must show Proof of Vaccination as a mandatory condition of their employment <p><p>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: <p><p> Knowledge of Cowichan culture, customs, and language<p> Knowledge of different learning styles and appropriate teaching methods to use<p> Knowledge of appropriate formative and summative assessment methods<p> Knowledge of educational obstacles that face First Nations peoples<p> Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate lesson plans according to curriculum objectives<p> Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal skills<p> Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask different tasks simultaneously<p><p>HOW TO APPLY: Interested applicants are invited to submit a current resume, a detailed cover letter and three references.
