LEARNING ASSISTANCE TEACHER <p><p><p>Elementary / Middle/Secondary Schools <p><p><p> Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23) in Kelowna, BC invites applications from dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators for positions in Learning Assistance as per School District Policy #505 and #505R for full and part time temporary contracts, and Teachers Teaching on Call (TTOC) positions.<p><p><p> <p> Applicants must: <p><p><p><p> <p> have a Master?s Degree or post graduate diploma in Special Education / Inclusive Education;<p> <p> <p> possess a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate.<p> Applicants must also :<p> <p><p><p><p><p> <p> be prepared to work with students who demonstrate a wide range of learning and behavioural need;<p> <p> <p> coordinate and administer assessments, and maintain detailed records;<p> <p> <p> be prepared to provide direct and indirect service within classrooms;<p> <p> <p> be prepared to plan collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and support staff to develop appropriate plans to ensure the student learning (IEP/AIP);<p> <p> <p> have experience in differentiating and providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of all students;<p> <p> <p> be prepared to use technology (e.g.: computers, Smartboards, digital portfolios, voice-mail, e-mail, websites, MyEd BC) for communication, planning, classroom instruction and reporting purposes;<p> <p> <p> be prepared to participate in the implementation of the school level Collaborative Model of Support and work to develop the School District Attributes for the 21st Century in all students - Learner, Thinker, Innovator, Collaborator, and Contributor.<p> Preference will be given to those applicants who :<p> <p><p><p><p><p> have training and/or experience as a Learning Assistance teacher;<p> are able to administer assessments such as Woodcock Johnson, Key Math, Jerry Johns, WISC;<p> can collect data for the purpose of completing a "Functional Behaviour Assessment";<p> have experience using PM Benchmarks, Read Naturally, Kurzweil, Touch Math and Trevor Caulkin?s Power of 10 Math;<p> have training/experience in the use of Quality Assessment practices (e.g.: differentiated instruction, criterion-referenced grading, Assessment for Learning).<p><p>The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.<p> Please complete an online application and include a cover letter, resume, undergrad degree and Bachelor of Education degree, along with corresponding transcripts, BC teaching certificate, TQS card, evaluation reports, and letters of reference.<p>Please contact Leanne Zorn at Leanne.zorn@sd23.bc.ca to inform her of your completed application.
